Calendar

Though the digital school calendar is the most up-to-date source for events at SJMS, we are offering a printed, 8.5" x 14" PDF version of the calendar for your convenience.

Email & Text Notifications for School Closings and Early Dismissals

Get text message and/or email reminders of days when SJMS is closed as well as notifications of snow days right when the decision is made to close! To participate, simply follow this link. If you change your mind later, you can easily unsubscribe. Also, messages will only be sent regarding school closings; parents will not receive text messages from this service for any other reason.

Becoming a Montessori Parent

The SJMS community is a learning community and there is always more to learn about Montessori education. The best way to learn is to experience Montessori through the eyes of your child. However, it is important to understand a bit about what and how your child will be learning. To get started:

  • Schedule a time to observe your child's classroom. Contact Candice Singleton, Director of Admission to schedule.

  • Familiarize yourself with the basics of the Montessori Method by reading books by or about Maria Montessori, perusing the websites of Montessori accrediting bodies like the American Montessori Society, and attending parent education events here at SJMS.

  • Reinforce and build on your child's classroom experience by using the Montessori principles of order, independence, and self-motivation at home.

The Montessorian

The Montessorian is our school newspaper we publish monthly. The newspaper includes news of school activities, alumni updates, puzzles, jokes, and more. Students write and edit articles, take photographs, and assist with layout of the paper. All students, staff members, and faculty are invited to contribute.
