| General Information
The
program at SJMS has three levels of involvement. These three levels
are classified as Children’s House, Lower Elementary, and Upper Elementary.
The
Children’s House program is based on a weekly theme as determined by the
Instructor of the week. This program incorporates aspects of the academic
school year by including similar schedules, Montessori works and instruction,
and Kindergarten opportunities. The age of the participant for the Children’s
House program is 3 years old through Kindergarten.
The
Lower Elementary program is currently based on a weekly theme as determined
by the Instructor of the week. This program also incorporates aspects of
the academic school year with a day camp flavor. The student has the opportunity
to learn from the various lessons and works about that particular theme
and a hands-on learning approach is used. Montessori philosophies are incorporated
throughout the week and this program involves more in-depth learning. Off-campus
educational and social trips, as well as provided practice in academic
areas make this a great program for the student who ranges from 1st through
4th grade.
The
Upper Elementary program involves the 5th through 8th grader and all SJMS
Alumni. Some of these classes are offered for the fourth grader (see registration
form) For this age group, the program offers mini-courses that last
for the morning or afternoon. Some classes extend longer and are
indicated in the course description. These classes isolate skills and interests
of the student of this age group and off-campus trips are common to further
enhance the content of the course being taken. |
