Admissions

St. Joseph Montessori School is committed to bringing together young people from a broad spectrum of ethnic, national, and religious backgrounds.  We welcome diversity and teach our students to deepen their perspective of the world through respect and mutual understanding.  Each applicant, regardless of background, is considered according to individual talents and needs, and each is admitted according to the school’s ability to best develop his or her potential.

Come for a Tour or Open House

Come for a guided tour of our campus or attend an Open House.  Our weekday events are usually adult-only, but weekend events are family-friendly. Attending an Open House will give you and your child an opportunity to meet our administrators, teachers and take a leisurely approach to exploring our facility.  Tours are available by appointment on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays.

Our next Open House event is Sunday, February 12, 3:00-5:00pm.  For more information or to register for the open house, please call or email our Director of Admissions Dara Wiggins at 614.291.8601 or dwiggins@cdeducation.org.

The Admissions Process

SJMS operates using a rolling admissions program.  We receive most applications between October and April, and consider each in the order of submission.  Here is an overview of our process.

Step 1: If you are unfamiliar with SJMS and would like information about the school, the Montessori method, the programs offered and lots of other info, click here and fill out the on-line form. We’ll send a school admissions packet that will answer most of your questions and also includes your application paperwork.

Step 2: Once you’ve become familiar with SJMS and the Montessori method, you may want to schedule a personal observation. Parents (from both current and new families) are welcome to schedule time to observe a classroom or two before deciding if this is the right place for your children. This is a valuable experience for you to see first-hand how the Montessori classroom functions.

Step 3: Once you are ready to enroll, simply review the 2011-2012 Tuition Payment Schedule, fill out the enrollment application and mail it to the school. Upon receipt of the application, we will schedule a date for your child’s interview. This is an informal session designed for your child to work with a teacher at his/her level. Its purpose is to gauge school readiness for the younger children and evaluate the grade/skill level for older children. It is our goal to ensure that all children are placed at the level in accordance with their specific skills and needs. That’s all there is to it.

After that, you and your child are all set for your first day at St. Joseph Montessori School.
